Zomato Rebrands as Eternal, Reflecting Its Expanding Business Portfolio

New Delhi: Food-tech giant Zomato has officially changed its corporate name to Eternal Ltd., following approval from its board. While the popular food delivery app will continue to operate under the Zomato brand, the company’s stock ticker will now reflect the new name.

In a stock exchange filing, the company explained that the decision stemmed from its evolving business model. “When we acquired Blinkit, we started using ‘Eternal’ internally to distinguish between the company and the brand/app. We also thought that we would publicly rename the company to Eternal the day something beyond Zomato became a significant driver of our future. Today, with Blinkit, I feel we are there,” said Deepinder Goyal, Co-founder of Zomato.

Eternal: The New Umbrella Brand

Eternal Ltd. will now serve as the parent entity overseeing four major businesses:

  • Zomato (Food delivery)
  • Blinkit (Quick commerce)
  • Hyperpure (Supply chain solutions for restaurants)
  • Dining services (District)

The move highlights the company’s diversification beyond food delivery, cementing its presence in the rapidly growing quick commerce and supply chain sectors.

Financial Performance and Expansion Plans

Despite the rebranding, the company’s financials for Q3 FY25 revealed a 57% decline in net profit, dropping to ₹59 crore from ₹176 crore in the same quarter last fiscal. However, revenue from operations surged 64% to ₹5,404 crore, reflecting strong business growth. Rising expenses, which hit ₹5,533 crore, were a contributing factor to the profit decline.

Looking ahead, Eternal has ambitious expansion plans, with 1,000 new Blinkit stores set to open by December 2025, reinforcing its commitment to quick commerce.

Industry Impact

With the rebranding, Eternal aims to position itself as a diversified tech-driven commerce giant, competing not only in food delivery but also in fast-moving consumer goods and restaurant supply chains. The shift reflects a growing trend among startups transitioning into multi-segment conglomerates to sustain long-term growth.

While the Zomato app remains unchanged, the transition to Eternal Ltd. marks a significant milestone in the company’s journey toward becoming a more expansive and resilient enterprise in India’s digital commerce landscape.
