Yadadri RRR Land Acquisition: Farmers Demand Better Compensation, Government Optimistic
The construction of the ambitious Regional Ring Road (RRR) in Telangana, a project expected to be a transformative development for the state, is moving forward rapidly.

The construction of the ambitious Regional Ring Road (RRR) in Telangana, a project expected to be a transformative development for the state, is moving forward rapidly. The northern section of the RRR, which spans 164 kilometers across Medak, Sangareddy, Siddipet, and Yadadri districts, is currently the focus of the government’s land acquisition efforts.
Land Acquisition Progress in Yadadri
In Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri district, officials need to acquire more than 1,800 acres of land across 24 villages in five mandals for the 59-kilometer stretch of the RRR. However, resistance from farmers, particularly in villages like Rayagiri, Turkapally, and Bhuvanagiri, has posed challenges.
In Rayagiri village, where 196 acres are required, farmers have opposed the acquisition of 105 acres, citing dissatisfaction with the compensation being offered. Similarly, in Turkapally mandal, negotiations with farmers from Konapuram and Ibrahimpur villages for 38 acres of land have highlighted demands for significantly higher compensation.
Government’s Proposed Compensation
The Telangana government has proposed compensation rates that vary based on the survey numbers and land registration values:
- ₹13.12 lakh per acre for land under survey number 215.
- ₹29.40 lakh per acre for other survey numbers.
- For land under survey number 682, with a registration value of ₹36.75 lakh per acre, officials have offered ₹50–70 lakh per acre, bringing the proposal closer to open market rates.
While National Highway rules allow compensation of up to three times the registration value, some farmers have highlighted open market rates of ₹1 crore per acre and are demanding higher payouts.
Negotiations with Farmers
The first phase of discussions was held in Turkapally mandal, where farmers have reportedly responded positively to assurances of ₹30 lakh per acre. Officials, led by Yadadri District Collector Hanumanth Rao, have been holding meetings with farmers to address their concerns and convince them of the benefits of the project.
In an effort to ensure a smooth acquisition process, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to offer fair compensation and establish trust with the affected farmers.
Challenges and Optimism
While some farmers remain reluctant, citing market rates that significantly exceed the government’s offers, officials are optimistic about reaching agreements with the remaining 22 villages. The project’s proponents emphasize its potential to boost connectivity and economic growth in Telangana, making it a priority for the state government.
Next Steps
Negotiations are expected to continue in the coming weeks as officials work to finalize agreements with farmers across all affected mandals. The successful resolution of compensation disputes is seen as key to the timely completion of the northern section of the RRR, which is poised to become a major infrastructural milestone for Telangana.
