Hyderabad: Telangana has witnessed a sudden dip in temperatures, with several districts recording single-digit minimums. After nearly ten days of relatively mild weather, the chilly winds have returned, leaving residents grappling with bitterly cold mornings.
The cold wave has been particularly severe on the outskirts of Hyderabad, where Moinabad recorded a minimum temperature of 9.4°C between Sunday evening and Monday morning. Northern and western districts, including Kumram Bheem Asifabad, Adilabad, Sangareddy, and Nirmal, reported even lower temperatures, ranging between 6.5°C and 9°C.
IMD Warns of Persistent Cold Wave
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad, has predicted that the cold spell will persist for at least three more days. Minimum temperatures are expected to range between 5°C and 10°C in districts such as Nirmal, Adilabad, and Mancherial. Morning hours are likely to be marked by foggy and misty conditions in isolated parts of the state.
End of Winter Chills in Sight?
T. Balaji, a renowned amateur meteorologist popularly known as @telanganaweatherman on X, indicated that this might be the last phase of Telangana’s winter. “This could be the last leg of shivering cold winters across Telangana. Single-digit temperatures in North and West Telangana, and 10-12°C in Hyderabad city. Mornings are bitterly cold and will continue till January 25. Daytime temperatures, however, will remain warm,” he posted.
Fluctuating Weather Ahead
The stark contrast between chilly mornings and warm afternoons has prompted health experts to advise residents to take precautions. Wearing appropriate clothing, staying hydrated, and avoiding sudden exposure to the cold are essential to prevent health issues.
As Telangana braces for these weather fluctuations, residents are urged to remain alert, particularly during the early hours of the day, and adapt to the changing conditions.
