Davos: Telangana’s presence at the World Economic Forum (WEF) has marked a watershed moment for the state’s economic ambitions. Led by Chief Minister Shri Revanth Reddy, the Telangana delegation successfully secured investments worth Rs 1,78,950 crore across multiple industries, laying the groundwork for over 49,550 new jobs.
The delegation’s stellar performance underscored Telangana’s commitment to becoming a global leader in technology, green energy, manufacturing, and agriculture. The CM’s dynamic leadership and vision drew significant interest from multinational corporations and policymakers, bolstering the state’s reputation as India’s premier business destination.
Key Investment Highlights
Among the landmark deals, Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced an investment of Rs 60,000 crore to establish data centers in Telangana. Other major commitments include Sun Petrochemicals with Rs 45,500 crore, Tillman Global Holdings at Rs 15,000 crore, and the MEIL Group, also pledging Rs 15,000 crore.
Global technology giants such as HCL Technologies, Infosys, and Wipro committed to expanding their Hyderabad operations, collectively creating over 27,000 high-end jobs. Additionally, data center investments by companies like URSA, CtrlS, and Sify promise to strengthen Telangana’s position as a technology and cloud hub.
Innovation in Emerging Sectors
Telangana’s proactive approach attracted cutting-edge investments in green energy, defense manufacturing, solar energy, and UAV production. Notably, Jindal made a significant commitment to boosting the state’s defense capabilities. Investments in private industrial parks by groups such as Ramky and MTS highlighted the state’s infrastructure potential, setting the stage for industrial growth.
Agriculture and Sustainability
Agriculture-focused investments also gained traction. Unilever announced the establishment of two manufacturing units, boosting Telangana’s standing in food processing and agro-industries. Green energy projects, including investments in solar energy and pump storage, align with the state’s vision of sustainable development.
TelanganaRising 2050 Vision
During his keynote address at the WEF, CM Shri Revanth Reddy unveiled the TelanganaRising 2050 vision. The blueprint positions Telangana as a global leader in data centers, electric vehicles, semiconductors, green energy, and food processing, among other sectors.
The CM emphasized Telangana’s strategic importance in the global supply chain, positioning it as an attractive alternative to countries like China. “Telangana is not just India’s future economic powerhouse; it is a global partner in innovation and sustainability,” he remarked.
Focus on Infrastructure and Mobility
Key infrastructure projects such as the Metro Rail expansion, Regional Ring Railway, and Radial Roads were highlighted as pillars of Telangana’s growth. Additionally, initiatives like the Musi River rejuvenation, EV promotions, and new airport projects aim to enhance urban mobility and sustainability.
A Roadmap to a $1 Trillion Economy
Telangana’s ambitious plan to become a $1 trillion State Domestic Gross Product (SDGP) economy by 2050 is built on three pillars:
- Urban Core Development: Clustering service industries within Hyderabad’s Outer Ring Road (ORR).
- Semi-Urban Manufacturing Zone: Focusing on industries between the ORR and the proposed Regional Ring Road.
- Rural Agri-Processing Hubs: Supporting agriculture and food processing in rural regions.
