Telangana government has streamlined the application process by allowing citizens to apply through MeeSeva centers across the state.
In a significant move to address long-pending requests for new Food Security (Ration) Cards, the Telangana government has streamlined the application process by allowing citizens to apply through MeeSeva centers across the state.
This decision follows the recommendations of a Cabinet Sub-Committee that reviewed eligibility criteria and procedures for issuing new ration cards and adding family members to existing ones.
Instructions Issued to District Collectors
Following this decision, the Chief Secretary to the Government of Telangana issued directives to all District Collectors to ensure smooth implementation.
Apart from MeeSeva centers, applications for new Food Security (Ration) Cards and additions of family members to existing cards will also be accepted at Praja Palana Seva Kendras (PPSKs).
MeeSeva Centers to Accept Applications Statewide
To facilitate this process, the Commissioner of Electronic Service Delivery (ESD – MeeSeva) has been instructed to enable the acceptance of ration card applications in all MeeSeva centers across Telangana.
This move is expected to prevent duplication of applications and ensure that only eligible beneficiaries receive Food Security Cards.
Additionally, the State Informatics Officer, NIC, Hyderabad, has been directed to enable web services to integrate the ration card database with MeeSeva, making the process seamless and efficient.
A Step Towards Transparency and Accessibility
The Telangana government’s initiative aims to simplify the ration card application process, ensuring that citizens, especially those from economically weaker sections, have easy access to food security benefits.
By leveraging digital infrastructure through MeeSeva, the state seeks to eliminate delays, improve service delivery, and curb fraudulent applications.
For citizens seeking new ration cards or adding family members, applications can now be submitted at the nearest MeeSeva center or Praja Palana Seva Kendra.
