Telangana Congress Launches Ad Campaign Mocking KCR and KTR Amid Davos Investment Success
The campaign, unveiled on Saturday, features hoardings mocking KCR and KTR for their reaction to the state's recent investment successes.

Hyderabad: In a sharp move against the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), the Telangana Congress launched an ad campaign targeting former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) and BRS Working President KT Rama Rao (KTR). The campaign, unveiled on Saturday, features hoardings mocking KCR and KTR for their reaction to the state’s recent investment successes.
The advertisements, which portray KCR and KTR suffering from a stomach ache (or acidity), include an image of packets of the antacid brand ENO. The tagline reads, “Stomach upset by investments? Use ENO!” alongside the hashtag #DigestTheGrowth. The campaign is a direct response to KTR’s recent criticism of the Telangana government’s investment announcement strategies.
Congress Retorts KTR’s “Circus” Comment
The ad campaign comes after KTR described Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s announcements at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos as a “circus.” On social media, KTR questioned the need for local companies to travel to Switzerland for investment agreements, sarcastically suggesting that “MoUs That Could Have Been Signed Over Chai in Hyderabad, Now Need Swiss Hot Chocolate!”
KTR’s comments sparked political debate, with Congress using the opportunity to launch its satirical campaign.
Telangana Secures Record Investments at Davos
Despite the political squabbles, Telangana achieved remarkable success at the WEF in Davos, securing investments worth Rs 1.79 lakh crore and creating over 49,550 job opportunities. The delegation, led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, attracted major companies including Amazon Web Services, HCLTech, Wipro, and Infosys.
Amazon Web Services committed Rs 60,000 crore, the largest investment, while Sun Petrochemicals followed with Rs 45,500 crore. Other significant investments came from Tillman Global Holdings and Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Ltd, with Rs 15,000 crore each.
The investments aim to further Hyderabad’s growth as a major industrial and tech hub. Infosys alone promised 17,000 jobs, with HCLTech and Wipro adding 5,000 positions each, all based in Hyderabad.
A Battle of Narratives
While the BRS hailed the Davos achievements as a significant milestone in Telangana’s development, the Congress used the occasion to question the ruling party’s priorities. The mocking ad campaign reflects the heightened political tensions as Telangana gears up for the upcoming assembly elections.
The Congress has positioned itself as a challenger to the BRS, leveraging such campaigns to capture public attention. Meanwhile, BRS leaders have defended their strategies, emphasizing the importance of global outreach in attracting investments.
As the state rejoices over the economic opportunities created at Davos, the political drama continues to unfold, with both parties seeking to claim the spotlight.
