Veteran Tollywood actor and TDP MLA from Andhra Pradesh, Nandamuri Balakrishna, has been conferred with the prestigious Padma Bhushan award in the field of art for the year 2025.

Hyderabad – Veteran Tollywood actor and TDP MLA from Andhra Pradesh, Nandamuri Balakrishna, has been conferred with the prestigious Padma Bhushan award in the field of art for the year 2025. This recognition honors his immense contribution to Indian cinema over a career spanning decades.
Balakrishna, the sixth son of legendary actor and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR), entered the film industry as a child artist. His debut came at the age of 14 in the 1974 film Tatamma Kala, directed by NTR. Since then, he has acted in over 100 films, captivating audiences with his versatility and charisma.
Known for his dynamic performances and mass appeal, Balakrishna has portrayed a wide array of roles across different genres. His films such as Samarasimha Reddy, Narasimha Naidu, and Akhanda have been celebrated as milestones in Telugu cinema. In addition to his acting prowess, he has contributed to preserving the legacy of his father by portraying NTR in the biographical films NTR: Kathanayakudu and NTR: Mahanayakudu.
Apart from his cinematic achievements, Balakrishna is also an active politician, serving as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) representing the Hindupur constituency in Andhra Pradesh. He is a prominent leader in the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and is admired for his philanthropic work, particularly in the field of healthcare.
