First Beneficiary in Poonch Leads the Way

The first beneficiary of this initiative, Satpal Sharma, a resident of Ward No. 8, Power House Mohalla, has already installed a 3-kilowatt solar panel on his rooftop.
The total cost of his solar panel system amounted to ₹1.68 lakh, of which the government provided a ₹94,000 subsidy. Sharing his experience, Sharma said, “Before this, we faced severe power cuts that disrupted our daily lives. Now, with solar energy, we enjoy 24-hour electricity. I encourage everyone in Poonch to take advantage of this incredible scheme.”
Relief from Power Outages
For years, Poonch residents struggled with electricity shortages that affected everything from household chores to children’s education. Nischal Sharma, a relative of Satpal Sharma, explained, “Power cuts were a major problem here. Children couldn’t study, inverters and motors didn’t work, and daily life was disrupted. Thanks to this scheme, we now have access to uninterrupted electricity.”
Under the scheme, solar panels of 1 kW, 2 kW, and 3 kW capacities are being installed, all of which come with a 25-year warranty. The initiative has sparked a wave of hope and gratitude among residents, many of whom are experiencing reliable electricity for the first time in decades.
Two New Payment Options Introduced
To make the scheme more accessible, the government has introduced two additional payment options for installing solar panels. While details of these options are yet to be elaborated, they are expected to simplify the process for citizens and make solar power more affordable.
