Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Response Assets Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRAA) successfully reclaimed a public park from encroachments in Gayathri Layout, Muthangi village of Patancheru mandal, Sangareddy district, on Friday.

The intervention came after a complaint by the Gayathri Layout Residents Welfare Association, which alerted authorities to unauthorized construction on parkland. Acting swiftly, HYDRAA demolished the illegal structures and ensured the land was restored to its rightful purpose.

Land Discrepancy Exploited

According to revenue records, the land in question was originally registered as 1 acre and 10 guntas. However, the Dharani portal recorded it as 1 acre and 17 guntas under the same survey number. Allegedly, individuals who sold the land manipulated this discrepancy to their advantage.

A local resident, identified as Praveen, reportedly encroached upon 7 guntas of the land, claiming ownership and erecting structures on it. The affected residents sought HYDRAA’s help to protect their community space.

Action Taken

After verifying land ownership, HYDRAA demolished the illegal structures and took legal action against the accused. A case has been registered at Patancheru police station against Praveen and two others, Ravi and Mehraj Khan, who were allegedly involved in the encroachment.

Residents Applaud HYDRAA’s Swift Response

Residents of Gayathri Layout expressed relief and gratitude for HYDRAA’s prompt intervention. “The park is a vital space for our community, and we are thankful that authorities acted quickly to prevent its loss,” said a member of the Residents Welfare Association.

With increasing cases of land encroachment in urban and suburban areas, HYDRAA’s action sets a precedent for protecting public spaces and ensuring legal compliance in land records.
