HYDRAA Resumes Demolition of Illegal Encroachments Near Ameenpur Pedda Cheruvu

(HYDRAA) has restarted demolition operations targeting illegal encroachments near Ameenpur

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection and Monitoring Agency (HYDRAA) has restarted demolition operations targeting illegal encroachments near Ameenpur Pedda Cheruvu following public complaints raised during the ‘Prajavani’ grievance program at Buddha Bhavan.

Complainants alleged that a local politician had unlawfully occupied their plots and developed a layout near the lake, illegally selling plots despite ongoing legal disputes dating back to 2006.

This marks HYDRAA’s second intervention in the area within three months. Earlier demolition efforts were reportedly undone when the politician re-erected fencing on the disputed land, forcing authorities to take further action. Officials confirmed that, given the repeated violations, a First Information Report (FIR) will be filed at the local police station, with further action expected as the case progresses.

HYDRAA Receives 78 Complaints During Prajavani Program

Meanwhile, during the latest Prajavani program on January 27, HYDRAA received 78 complaints regarding illegal land occupation and encroachments from various parts of Hyderabad.

One of the complainants, Murlidhar Reddy, shared his long-standing struggle with land encroachment. He stated, “I purchased a plot in Badangpet village in 1986, but Anand Reddy occupied it and built a compound wall. Despite multiple complaints to municipal offices, my issue remained unresolved.”

Reddy approached HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath, who assured him that the matter would be addressed. Other complainants also raised concerns and expressed hope that their grievances would be resolved promptly.

Last week, on January 21, HYDRAA received 85 complaints regarding land encroachments across Hyderabad, underscoring the widespread nature of the issue.

Officials have reiterated their commitment to tackling illegal land occupation and ensuring justice for affected property owners. The agency is expected to take further steps to prevent unauthorized constructions and reclaim disputed lands in the coming weeks.
