Hyderabad’s Malakpet and Medchal to Get 2 New IT Towers

Hyderabad: In a significant step towards decentralizing IT growth in Hyderabad, the Telangana government has announced the establishment of new IT towers in South Malakpet and Medchal. These projects aim to create employment opportunities and improve connectivity for IT professionals in these regions.

The announcement was made by Special Chief Secretary to the IT Department, Jayesh Ranjan, at the MoveInSync GCC Conclave 2025, held at Sheraton Hyderabad. He emphasized the state’s commitment to expanding IT infrastructure beyond the traditional Cyberabad hub, making workspaces more accessible and reducing commute times for professionals.

Boosting IT Growth Beyond Cyberabad

To encourage companies to set up operations in Tier 2 locations, the government will offer rent-free IT towers for two years in nine locations across Telangana. This initiative is expected to attract businesses looking for cost-effective office spaces while also addressing the high real estate costs in Hyderabad’s primary IT districts.

“Expanding IT infrastructure to areas like Malakpet will particularly benefit professionals from the Old City and nearby regions by providing jobs closer to their homes,” Ranjan stated.

Focus on Sustainable Mobility

The Telangana government is also prioritizing eco-friendly initiatives. Ranjan highlighted that 90% of the state’s EV charging infrastructure is already in place, with companies encouraged to install charging stations. The initiative is backed by Telangana’s renewable energy policy, which provides discounts on EV charging facilities.

Under Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s ‘Rising 2050’ vision, Telangana is committed to achieving net-zero emissions. To support this goal, all government buildings will soon be equipped with rooftop solar panels, and large-scale tree plantations will be promoted.

Skill Development for IT Aspirants

To prepare young professionals for the growing IT sector, the Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge (TASK) is offering government-funded training programs. These programs aim to equip fresh graduates with the necessary skills to join Global Capability Centres (GCCs).

Currently, two GCC consortiums are already operational in Telangana, with plans to establish 10 more in the near future. Ranjan expressed confidence that these initiatives will strengthen Telangana’s reputation as a leading IT hub in India.

With these ambitious plans, Telangana continues to position itself as a forward-thinking state, fostering IT expansion, job creation, and sustainable development.
