Hyderabad: A shocking and tragic incident came to light in Warasiguda, Secunderabad, where two young women lived with their deceased mother’s body for nine days, unable to accept her passing. The heartbreaking case was discovered on Friday when neighbors reported a foul smell coming from their house.
The deceased, Sri Lalitha (45), was living in a rented house on Road No. 3, Warasiguda, with her daughters, Ravalika (25) and Ashwitha (22). According to police, she passed away under suspicious circumstances over a week ago. Consumed by grief, her daughters did not report her death and continued to stay beside her decomposing body.
Distressed by their mother’s loss, the sisters reportedly attempted to take their own lives by slashing their wrists but survived. Their situation remained unnoticed until neighbors, alarmed by the strong odor, informed the police.
Upon receiving the complaint, authorities, under the directions of Secunderabad MLA T. Padmarao Goud, entered the house and rescued the two women. Sri Lalitha’s body was sent to Gandhi Hospital for autopsy to determine the cause of death.
The Warasiguda police have registered a case of suspicious death and launched an investigation. Meanwhile, officials are providing medical and psychological support to the grieving daughters.
The tragic incident has deeply shaken the local community, highlighting the urgent need for mental health awareness and support systems for those coping with profound loss.
