Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to expedite the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the much-anticipated cable-stayed bridge over Mir Alam Tank. The project, estimated to cost ₹363 crore, aims to improve connectivity and ease traffic congestion.

Bridge to Be Completed in 30 Months

During a review meeting with officials from the Municipal Administration and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on February 8, CM Reddy instructed that the 2.65 km-long and 22.2 m-wide bridge be completed within 30 months. He emphasized the importance of incorporating entertainment and recreational facilities for children in the bridge’s surroundings.

Three Proposals Under Review

Officials presented three proposals for the bridge design and execution. The chief minister also discussed road-widening works in the city and asked officials to submit a detailed report on the progress within two days.

Strategic Connectivity and Traffic Decongestion

The Mir Alam Tank cable-stayed bridge will provide a crucial link between the Bangalore National Highway (NH-44) and Chintalmet Road. This connectivity is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion on the NH-44–Chintalmet corridor.

Funding and Development Plans

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) is actively exploring funding options for the project. Given its strategic importance, the bridge is set to become an architectural and infrastructural landmark in Hyderabad.

Officials are expected to finalize the DPR soon, paving the way for construction to begin in the coming months.
