Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is set to lay the foundation stone for the new Osmania General Hospital on January 31, marking a significant milestone in modernizing healthcare infrastructure in Telangana. The new facility is designed to cater to the healthcare needs of the region for the next century, with cutting-edge infrastructure and patient-centric features.
A Vision for Modern Healthcare
During a review meeting on Saturday, CM Revanth emphasized the need for state-of-the-art facilities in the new hospital, urging officials to ensure strict adherence to construction and design regulations. He highlighted the importance of creating separate buildings for teaching staff and male and female students, ensuring a conducive environment for education and healthcare delivery.
“The hospital should reflect a futuristic vision and address the region’s growing healthcare needs comprehensively. There should be no compromise on quality or compliance,” the Chief Minister stated.
Comprehensive Infrastructure Enhancements
CM Revanth outlined key features for the new Osmania General Hospital, including enhanced road connectivity on all four sides of the facility to ease traffic congestion. He proposed the construction of underpasses where needed and two underground parking floors to accommodate the growing number of patients and visitors. Additional infrastructure will include dormitories, fire stations, canteens, public toilets, and advanced sewage treatment plants (STPs).
Focus on Emergency Services and Patient Comfort
Recognizing the critical need for emergency and disaster management, the Chief Minister directed the inclusion of modern mortuary facilities, such as body-freezing units, to allow families adequate time for final rites. A helipad will also be constructed to support helicopter ambulances, enabling rapid transport of critical patients and organ transfers.
CM Revanth underscored the importance of designing a welcoming environment for patients and visitors. “Hospitals should not evoke anxiety. The design should ensure patients and their families feel comfortable and cared for,” he stated. The layout and design of the hospital will be revised to reflect this approach, with an emphasis on aesthetics and efficiency.
Officials Backing the Initiative
The meeting was attended by several key officials, including Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha, Chief Minister’s Advisor Vem Narender Reddy, State Government Advisor (Infrastructure) Srinivasa Raju, Medical and Health Secretary Christiana Chongtu, Hyderabad Collector Anudeep Durisetty, and others. The officials reviewed and discussed the plans to ensure the project meets its ambitious goals.
A Modern Landmark in Healthcare
With the foundation stone ceremony slated for January 31, the Osmania General Hospital redevelopment project is expected to become a landmark in healthcare modernization, offering advanced facilities and addressing the region’s healthcare challenges for decades to come.
