Centre Urges Andhra Pradesh, Telangana to Resolve Bifurcation Issues Mutually

New Delhi/Hyderabad: The Union Home Ministry has urged Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to work together in resolving the long-pending bifurcation issues between the two states.
Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan chaired a high-level meeting with officials from both states in New Delhi on Monday to discuss pending matters under the AP Reorganization Act, 2014. The discussions primarily revolved around items listed under Schedules 9 and 10 of the Act, which pertain to the division of assets and liabilities between the two states.
During the meeting, the Home Secretary advised both states to seek legal expert opinions before making further decisions on unresolved issues. He emphasized that cooperation was essential for the mutual benefit of both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
The Centre assured assistance in infrastructure development and urged both states not to escalate disputes over fund allocations, as it could hamper their growth prospects. Mohan also indicated that some decisions could be finalized in the next meeting.
The bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in 2014 led to several unresolved financial and administrative disputes, particularly regarding the distribution of government institutions, corporations, and other assets. While several meetings have taken place over the years, key issues remain unresolved.
The Union Home Ministry’s latest push for resolution signals an attempt to expedite the process and bring a long-pending settlement to the financial and administrative differences between the two Telugu-speaking states.
