Afzalgunj Firing: Manhunt Expands to Bihar, Jharkhand as Suspects Evade Arrest

Hyderabad, January 22, 2025 — In a significant breakthrough, Hyderabad police have made substantial progress in the Afzalgunj firing case. The two suspects, Amit and Manish, are now revealed to have been involved in multiple high-profile crimes across India, underscoring their vast criminal network.

Escape Route Traced

Detailed investigation and advanced surveillance analysis have unveiled the suspects’ escape route following the Afzalgunj incident. According to police reports, Amit and Manish initially fled from Trimulgherry to Shamirpet via a passenger auto-rickshaw. They later traveled to Gajwel in a shared auto and then hitched a ride to Adilabad in a lorry. Subsequently, the duo journeyed through Madhya Pradesh before heading to Bihar, suggesting premeditated plans for evading law enforcement.

Connection to Bidar Heist

Further digging by investigators has tied the duo to a violent heist in Bidar, Karnataka, which occurred just days before the Afzalgunj shooting. During the Bidar incident, the suspects allegedly shot and killed a security guard and another individual while looting Rs. 93 lakh from a financial institution. They reportedly fled the scene on a motorcycle, later abandoning it and taking a bus to Hyderabad.

Upon reaching Hyderabad, Amit and Manish booked bus tickets to Raipur through Roshan Travels in Afzalgunj. However, when the travel manager, Jahangir, questioned the duo about the suspicious cash-filled luggage they carried, one of them fired a pistol, fatally shooting Jahangir before fleeing again.

Joint Investigation Underway

The Hyderabad police have joined forces with their counterparts in Bidar to expedite the investigation. Special teams have been dispatched to Bihar and Jharkhand, where the suspects are believed to be hiding, potentially planning to flee the country. Law enforcement agencies across multiple states are working together to prevent further crimes by the duo.

Public Alert

Authorities are urging citizens to remain vigilant and report any information related to the suspects’ whereabouts. Hyderabad Police Commissioner K.V. Anand expressed optimism about the case, stating, “We are working tirelessly with interstate law enforcement teams to bring the suspects to justice. We are confident that with the public’s cooperation, we will apprehend them soon.”

The Afzalgunj firing and its ties to the Bidar heist have raised concerns over the growing sophistication of criminal activities spanning multiple states. The police’s swift action and coordinated efforts reflect their commitment to ensuring public safety and cracking down on organized crime.

The case remains under active investigation, with updates expected in the coming days as teams close in on the suspects.
