Ludhiana/Mumbai: Bollywood actor and philanthropist Sonu Sood, known for his humanitarian work, has found himself in legal trouble as an arrest warrant has been issued against him by a Ludhiana court. The warrant was reportedly issued after Sood failed to appear for testimony in a fraud case linked to a fraudulent cryptocurrency scheme.

Details of the Case

The case was filed by Ludhiana-based lawyer Rajesh Khanna, who claims that he was defrauded of ₹10 lakh by an individual named Mohit Shukla. According to reports, Khanna was allegedly lured into investing in a fake cryptocurrency called Rijika Coin. Sonu Sood was expected to provide testimony in the case but allegedly failed to appear before the court, leading to legal action.

Court’s Decision and Arrest Warrant

Ludhiana’s Judicial Magistrate, Ramanpreet Kaur, issued the arrest warrant against Sood, citing his repeated absence despite being served summons. According to court documents quoted by India Today, the order stated:

“Sonu Sood has been duly served with summons or warrants but has failed to attend (absconds and keeps out of the way for the purpose of avoiding service of summons or warrants). You are hereby ordered to arrest and bring the said Sonu Sood before the court.”

The warrant was reportedly sent to Oshiwara Police Station in Andheri West, Mumbai, with instructions to take action and present the actor in court. Authorities have been directed to return the warrant by February 10, 2025, with an update on its execution.
